THERE will be a few hundred sore heads in Toowoomba on Sunday morning after the opening of former Test star Jason Smith's pub The Mill Street Tavern. Friends from Canberra to Townsville have committed to traversing the eastern seaboard for the event, including former teammates Jarrod McCracken, Nik Kosef and Terry Cook.
One of the highlights of the new fit-out is a collection of 60 framed jerseys Smith collected throughout his long career.

Good luck to him......for the 1st 2 seasons he was here,he was one of the best i have seen in a Hull shirt...when he had the ball in his hand,time seemed to stand still.

got injured at the wrong time at the end of season 2001/2? (when we nearly won at wigan in the play offs without him and then controversial loss at home to saints). finished 3rd in the league and for long periods were the best team around. if he played in the play off it could have been different

A proper A list signing at the time for Hull and for the first couple of years was nothing short of majestic at times.
Sadly became a bit of a target for a few hatchet men and never really got the protection from the refs leading to niggly injuries (particularlty shoulder) hampering him towards the end of his Hull career.
The pub sounds spot on. Good luck to him. |

States he was retiring goes home plays two season solid no injuries and gives it all. Took us for a ride another waste of a quota player similar to some we have now.

Harsh in the extreme! Smith was exceptional for you guys the majority of time that he was here. I also reckon his club, state and international record would stand very favourably up against Peter Sterlings. |
