Where will the games be played if this happens....
boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tn ... 2123636343
Also, looks nailed on that the capacity will be extended to 35,000. Will this completely kill the atmosphere at Hull games with roughly only a third of it being full for most games....

As mentioned in one of the posts, the atmosphere is still better with the stadium half full of FC fans than it is full with City fans, don't think they like that!!

| All other sports are likely to suspend their fixtures for the duration of the world cup in the host country so it won't be an issue. RL will be played upto around a week before and won't restart til a week after. If the KC is chosen, our last couple of games before a recess could be away games - or we could always take one on the road to Doncaster - that would be easy if we took say Catalans there. Maybe the Council or sponsors could provide free buses as part of their world cup funding!

| It would be great for City for the city and for RL in Hull. Surely a venue for internationals?

| I think the actual ruling they are looking at is no other major sports fixtures can take place in the same city, not just the stadium , which is why teh NRL are facing a problem if Sydney gets the 2018 cup

| Right, a number of points:
1) Minns knows they are likely to be out at the next local election anyway.
2) It is a promise to "look into funding" not a promise that the Council will fund it.
3) There is no caveat about City having to be in the Premiership, which is daft, if they were to get relegated once, even twice, then a 35,000 seater would be stupid.
4) And if they DO go ahead and find funding and don't include the rail interchange, then they want shooting.
Instead of wasting peoples money on this type of thing, and the bid for City of Culture status, why aren't the politicians in Hull lobbying for investment to create jobs, to get the thousands of 16-25 year olds without work into meaningful employment?

| as much as i'd like Hull to win a world cup game, i still find it unlikely.
there is more to a world cup bid than just the ground. Hull's transport is poor (try getting a train out of the city after 9pm for example) there aren't enough hotel rooms and other corporate facilities for the FIFA gravy train and geographically we are out on a limb.
I think the 'yorkshire' venue is nailed on for Sheffield or Leeds.
as for the KC itself, I think 35k would be just about the maximum for City. And i'd like to think that any ground increase (that HullFC have said they'd support on several occasions...which some City fans forget) would just be an incentive for us to grow our fanbase further.

it would be the perfect time for the NRL to promote itself around Australia and east Asia playing games 'on the road' in places like Perth, PNG and even Hong Kong and Tokyo are feasible.

I disagree i think 35,000 is to big for City it would be very seldom full. Anyway England has got to win the bid yet and with a joint Spain/Portugal bid Blatter and his corrupt lot might decide they want a bit of sun.
