I believe the club have held onto his registration and so he won't be able to play without their permission. I wonder if some agreement has been made or if there was a time limit to be hold onto the registration.

This was an afterthought I had. I we held his registration would we not have been entitled to a fee should he sign elsewhere? Unless there were clauses? |

I'd have thought he'd be registered as long as he is contracted for.
Otherwise any player who leaves once his contract is up we'd be able to retain registration and prevent them from playing for another club, same for any player coming to us at the end of a contract. |
