I've been a big fan of Dowes over the years and think he's been much underrated, but he doesn't offer any more than Cusack in general play and gets a slower PTB. |

To be fair to Dowes he has improved this season, but when all the props are so alike it is hard to be noticed.
Early in the season he was our best performing prop IMO, but like everything things have gone downhill, it must be hard for players to get up for games at the minute with so much going wrong. Also take into account the amount of game time he has.
Given the choice i would keep Dowes and lose Cusack and sign a player we need on the quota rather than someone we can get here.

I'd agree with this. Cusack is a model pro and put in a lot of work, he's got bags of big game experience and should have a good influence over some of the younger players.
Every club needs players like Cusack who can put the hard slog in for 80 minutes and he has the ability to throw some good off-loads out but as stated on here already; players like him need to be balanced in the front row with hard running, tackle busting impact props like Morley, Mason, Kite, etc.
If we sign an impact prop and clear out the likes of Radford (unlikely to happen), King (he's had his day and used up all of his chances) and Dowes (doubtful) then I'm happy; especially is we keep Maloney and develop him for the future. |
