I am off to the cash point tomorrow for that very reason. They have no basis on charging £2 to use a debit card. It's a joke.

What good value that has turned out to be - I think there are only about 6 people who did it but I bet they are laughing now ! (and yes, the club still honours the deal)

They are laughing, there are about 29 and i know 2 of em, at one point there were even doing 2 passes for £1750

Wouldnt say absorbs it because that sounds like they pick up the card fee. They simply add it to the price of the product and pay it out of the increased margin on the goods or service.

In answer to your question, I tried to find the most simple way to charge the payment fees possible, it had to deal with e mail, telephone and postal sales as well as sales in person at the counter. The reason I charge the fees is that the Club gets charged for all card transactions and different cards are charged at different rates and in different ways.



In order to make the sales process as easy as possible for both the counter staff and the customer I thought one flat fee rather than using different potentially confusing fees for each card was the best way to go.



I have tried to offer as many ways to pay as we can and as many free payment options as possible being cash, cheques or Hull FC savings stamps.



As debit cards require you have to the funds in your account I assumed that if someone had a particular issue with charges for debit cards then they would find it just as simple to pay by cheque or cash and not face any payments charges at all.



I hope this goes some way to explaining the reason behind the payment charges we currently have.

So whilst it is safer to carry a debit card rather than cash and which can be prevented from miss-use should you have the misfortune to lose or have stolen,

it would seem the STADIUM would rather its customers deal in "CASH" PRIMARILY ! were talking hundreds of ££'s in cash not just a couple of quid which if you have the misfortune to lose or have stolen is never going to be prevented from being spent by the unintended ! and as for cheques most banks/building societys dont issue cheque books anymore!



my point is that when i purchase goods from other outlets i'm not charged £2 Per item! i may be charged occasionally per transaction.

So if you don't want to pay the card fee and don't want to carry large amounts of cash just pay by cheque?



Presumably the cheque will be supported by your debit card?
