Basically because there is a difference between a fan and a player. A fan has the right to voice their opinion, until it becomes racist or illegal. As for wishing him serious injury well that is bad. However, the player is a so called professional who should always know better. Example Eric Cantona who did the ultimate revenge on a fan. Tomkins should be fined by both club and Super League and be taught a lesson. Brilliant player but not a nice person at all.

Oh for heavens sake. The lad has just helped us to our first Challange cup win in ages and who knows what abuse he was getting from those fans he "waved" to? So he has made an error. It has probably happened with other players manytimes inthe past who havent been surrounded by all the cameras there are now.

This game was on National T/V with people watching throughout the UK, it was also shown in many countries around the world. Our game needs all the coverage it can get to raise its profile and get more people going to games.

I'm obviously gutted. Any losing fan would be. As much as the decisions didn't go our way well we shouldn't have let you dominate in the first 30 as you did so fair result IMO. We didn't get the rub of the green but what goes around comes around. However all that said, what is tomkins doing?!? Really disappointed, granted he'll hate Leeds fans for the booing earlier this season but this is indefensible. Surely somebody has to act on this one. I am obviously bitter but Wigan celebrations are jilted by this. Forget about the ref.

I would say the so called England fans who booed him during the international did more harm to our game.

Bar hooliganism, a player who gives a V sign to opposing fans in a showpiece final in front of millions does more damage than any fans can. Get real.
