| I thought Carmont had one of his worst games in a wigan shirt inside of him aswell though to be fair. His defence for Wires second try was appaling as he flew inside to get to a guy that was already covered leaving a huge hole for the impressive Blyth to stroll into and set up Monaghan.
Charnley made a couple of errors but it's all part of the learning curve and i'd like to think we'd get him a little more protection in future games if he continues on the wing(he should be playing right centre though imo).

| Im a saints fan but im sure I speak on behalf of all 20 wigan fans who actually know about rugby and no, not you Hogan. But, get a clue. Charnley is young and learning the game. That overated winger is comming to the end of his career. There is a huge differerence.

| Radlinski basically said that Wire were more enthusiastic than we were. He brought Josh Charnley with him and Charnley himself said that he had a poor game but would do everything he could to put it right next week.

| personally i think he was beating himself up too much. Poor kid had a tough game, it happens. Even the greats have had tough games. The main thing is to take it away as a positive, rather than a negative.

Well good for Charnley going to face the fans. That shows a bit of character. Mind you I hope Radlinski and the rest of the coaching staff realise it wasn't just a matter of enthusiasm. If we put it down to that alone we won't have learned anything.

| I think it's harsh to criticise Charnley for some of his mistake tonight. He may have got beaten in the air a couple of times but he was facing Joel Monaghan! He's only a couple of centimetres shorter than Pat Richards so he's got the height and he's just as dangerous. Richards has embarrassed numerous players when we put attacking kicks to the corner because it's so hard for even good players to compete with him and the same goes for Monaghan. The attacking player almost always has the advantage because they are able to take a running jump for the kick and so get a bit of extra height. When you have the height advantage already it makes all the difference.
There was also a dropped ball when he wasn't under pressure. That to me was probably just a lapse in concentration. He was determined to get to the ball and got his body in a poor position to try to catch it so it was inevitable that he would knock on. He will learn from his mistakes, but Roberts did the same thing a couple of times against Huddersfield. When you've run across the pitch to defuse a kick it's hard to tell yourself to stop and let the ball bounce when you're committed, but when you're in an awkward position and there isn't much pressure that's usually the best thing to do.
