It depends on what you view his job as when he was brought in. I think it was firstly to save us from relegation, and secondly to take Wigan back to a stage where we were a force in the game. I think he has done that if I'm honest. We have beaten everyone except Hudders at least once this season. Had we not had that terrible start, then we would be in a good league postion.



However saying that, yes he has done his job, but I don't believe he is the man to take us much further with the squad we have. Had we added some more players, I would be all for keeping Noble for another season, but we haven't and something has to change. The only thing left is the coach.

Agreed and I'm still amazed that people can actually try to make an argument for BN to stay. He's had his chance and hasn't taken Wigan forward in the last 2-3 years (we finished 6th this year). That is not good enough for Wigan I'm afraid.



When you dig a little deeper and look at his selection policy, the lack of preparation and conditioning of the squad etc the whole coaching and backroom set up at Wigan demands a clear out and some new ideas. Noble's had his chance and we need to move on now (as does BN, maybe a change of club will be a good thing for him too).

The times just right for a parting of the ways isn't it.



He's done a good job imo but it's all gone abit stale and we don't seem to be progressing anymore. He did the initial job of getting us away from relegation and making us competative prefectly and we should all be thankful for that but in the past couple of years we haven't been able to kick on.



Whenever our season ends he should be patted on the back, the fans should give him a good send off and everyone should move on.

Complete failure in this regard. If he wasn't he would be staying (or at least would have been in a position to turn down the contract he would have already have been offered if he does not want to).







You may as well say had we won the cup we would be the current cup holders. The fact is we DID have a terrible start (for [ithird [/iseason running) and finished NOT in a good league position.







I don't see why anyone would want to keep Noble even if we added players. The players he has had over the last three years are not rubbish and his sides at Wigan have had several current and former internationals in them. There is nothing he has done in the past three years to suggest a couple of extra players with him in charge would see a dramatic difference. We need both those players [iand[/i a new coach.

I can't accept this argument that, "if we'd had better players we'd have won more, so it isn't all the coach's fault".



I know that's not exactly what you were saying, but others have said it and it doesn't hold water.



At the end of the day, storming victories this season over Bradford, Leeds and St Helens have proved that we already have adequate personnel to be challenging at the top level in SL. But then, pathetic defeats like the trip to Celtic and the semi-final disgrace against Warrington show that any kind of consistency still eludes us. The coach has to take responsibility for that.



If we can batter Leeds and St Helens, as we have done this season, that doesn't mean we have an automatic right to do it all the time, but it does mean that we should not be losing to teams at the lower end of the table and we certainly should not have lost as many home fixtures as we have.



It's okay saying that if we hadn't had a poor start, we'd be well up there, but, for me, it's because of that poor start that Nobby needs to go. We have the troops but we clearly don't have the leadership.



I'd like more, better quality players, of course, but it seems to me that the club has prioritised getting a new, better coach this time round, and if so, I've no fault with that. That said, we've yet to see who the new coach is - I hope to Heaven they don't disappoint us all.

Was told yesterday it has been Mcguire (sp) all along but he is struggling for a work permit due to him not having his full coaching qualifications.

YAWN, i suppose you are right though, i mean look at all that lovely silverware he has brought us, OH NO, wait a minute, he hasn't brought us any success, yet Tony Smith is at Warrington for a few months and serves up the Challenge Cup, so out of the 2 who would you say has failed and who would you say has succeeded, the inclusion of new players (Fielden/Dobson) helped save us from relegation more than Noble did

In the past Wigan have spent lots on compensation because of sacking managers well before there contract was up! this time because IL said the club is LOSING money they are waiting until nov so they dont have to pay compensation.
