His game was in the main very good tonight but he let himself down with a couple of big errors. The fumble in the first half was poor and he should have dived on the ball in the 2nd half added to the fact he didn't take control of the bomb for their last try.



Overall though a decent showing full of passion but not quite good enough.........................very similar to the team infact.

Why so many neg comments about a guy who played well tonight and is brave enough to put a wigan shirt on and play rugby against some big guys looks around tosee if any guys on here are SL players and no just people who can coach better ans play better than any player !!! me thinks not be PROUD OF YOUR TEAM AND SUPPORT THEM STOP SLAGGIN THEM OFF

i thought he did very well tonight especially after being out so long injured.wigan could do worse than play him at stand off as it was glaringly obvious tonight that is what we are lacking,no disrespect to young tomkins he just needs more time.

i thort he looked dangerous on kick returns and with carmont out no doubt he will be shifted to centre if pat is fit

I agree that they are the toughest sportsmen in the world. But when you are a professional sportman you will be scrutinised from fans.



FWIW, I liked Phelps last year and I like the effort and commitment he shows, I just didn't think he had a great game. Deal with it.

Few basic errors but that could be put down to confidence and ring rust so to speak, generally impressed with him tonight linked well entered the line at the right time caused Saints some problems. If you could cross him and Pat you would have a very good fullback.

Jonh Great post mate at last someone who actually looks at the game he did well and would be a very good squad player for us and can play in other positions too. How you can pick on a player who turned up is beyond me I totally agree with people having ago if a player consitanly does not perform but Phelps from what ive seen gives it 100% all of the time

I agree with that, he didn't look confortable dealing with kicks and his decision making was poor.
