Lenegan should invite all the PL managers and footy journos to come and look at the pitch in September when we've finished playing on it and then again in February before we start. Maybe then we'll stop hearing this same rubbish every year. Saying that, the information will probably be more useful to Championship managers next season!

The state of the pitch is entirely the fault of Whelan, if he had spent what he should have done on drainage for the pitch when the ground was being built we wouldn't be talking about it now.

It's not too hard to understand, the ground is built next to a canal and a river (of sorts), and only a mile or so away from a place called MARSH GREEN.

Very lazy journalism. It's funny how so called educated men don't realise that grass doesnt grow a whole lot in the winter (unless aided by artificial light) and that in this country it tends to rain a fair bit! Add into that, that Dave Whelan only spent eighty grand on the new pitch (pitches at wembley and the emirates cost north of a million pounds) and you can see the problem. You get what you pay for. Maybe he should be more concerned at his teams awful performances this year!

To be fair to latics, they don't hop on the bandwagon and blame the rugby. Whelen has defended the rugby numerous times in relation to the state of the pitch. Martinez has said today that the rugby has nothing to do with Darren Bents injury.
