Sick of everyone turning every thread now into the drums being bad and so on, you all know the script.

The thing is, I don't know what the atmosphere sounds like with a drum.



There's about 6 of them, all out of tune.

No, they are annoying

If the drummers didn't seem to have a complete lack of rhythm it might not be so bad. Sitting far away from them obviousley isn't so bad and does get the crowd going, but sitting anywhere near them ruins the game for me.

Do we need one? No

Do I mind them? In moderation, no.



As ABP' says, we probably could manage with one drum and one decent drummer who knows when and how to play* it.

How's "it depends" for a fence-sitting answer?



Sometimes they can add something extra, but then you have instances like Harlequins the other week where they just don't. Seems there's a time and a place for them - not one I can put my finger on, but they're not an outright bad thing.



Just repeatedly banging a drum does NOT constitute 'atmosphere', good or otherwise though. Noise maybe, but not atmosphere. The concept of having 'no atmosphere without the drum' is bobbins.
