Any good?'"
Excellent player.
Better than either Colbon or Ainscough, he'll do well for you.

How realistically can you say that?
Charnley may have the potential to be better than both Colbon and Ainscough but I honestly can’t see how you can make a statement that he’s a better player than them?
Both Ainscough and Colbon are proven SL standard players & Charnley isn’t as he’s not even made a SL appearance yet.
That’s not to say the kid doesn’t have potential.

| Lets get real here - Ainscough was a flash in the pan. Once sussed out he was made to look very suspect. If he was that good, why has he been farmed out to anyone who will have him?
Was speaking to Josh last night and I hope it works out for him - but maybe not this Friday! If certain players werent in the Wigan end of season clearout window, I am sure he would have featured this season in the first team. He is only just 19 and I am sure he will be there or there abouts next season for you.
Any strength in the rumour that Karl Pryce is going to Hull KR next season?

I agree with the general gist of what you are saying but I really dont see how Ainscough is proven SL standard. This season he was dropped after one game against Harlequins because he was a liability and was considered a disappointment and a defensive liability at Cas and they didnt want him back. He has done okay at Widnes in NL1 by all accounts. I think it is very much in the air if Ainscough is SL standard or not and he will have to improve an awful lot defensively if he is to attain that level in my opinion.

Cas didn't want him back because they had players returning from injury . And to judge him this season on one game outside that donkey Bailey in the centres is simply not fair. He also qualifies for dual registration which goes a long way to explaining why he gets farmed out and other players such as Pryce (who is vastly overrated by many on here IMO) do not IMO.

That still doesn't alter the fact saying Charnley is a better player is silly given he has never played SL.
If rumours are to be believed Ainscough will be out at the end of the season and if true I think he will have been hard done to by the club and feel he should have at least been given as many games as Pryce to prove himself in a full strength Wigan side under the new regime.

| I posted about the move in the rumour thread yesterday afternoon as it wasn't officially confirmed then. Its a good move for Josh and Wigan. It gives him the chance to step up and test himself at Super League level, which is something his form in the reserves certainly warrants. And Wigan benefit from him gaining experience at a higher level and seeing where he is at in his career development. Lets wish him luck and hope he goes well for Hull KR in this loan period.

Morgan's recently been giving the kids a chance, hopefully it'll work out for this lad too. It's good that Wigan have co-operated on such short notice too.
And, on that Karl Pryce rumour, despite his injuries, I would snap him up for definate - hope that ones true!

His try scoring record proves he’s a SL standard winger who has faults in his game.
At this moment in time we don’t know anything about Charnley’s ability at SL level. Yes we can say he was excellent at academy level and that he should make the grade but until he plays a handful of SL games we can’t make sweeping statements saying he’s better than players like Colbon & Ainscough.

| Excellent move for him.
We've seen this year players like Tuson and Farrell going out on loan, working hard, playing well and then being involved at the first team. Must give all the younger players the motivation and incentive to go out on loan and push themselves to get involved in the team.

He will have to go some way to be better than Colbon, before he got injured he was one of our most consistent performers, and scored some brilliant tries.
