I am still in a state of utter shock as to the attendance declared for the CC match and it started me thinking that the club looks like it is being run into the ground, either deliberately or by chance.
5 Home games into the first new season as the Broncos v.2 and the average gates have dropped 15%

Now I know Gus has gone on the Radio and blamed the teams abject performances for this, but it would seem that no effort is being made to arrest this alarming decline in fans at games. ...if you remove the first game back as the Broncos the average gate is 2,112...........nearly 40% down.
If they manage to maintain the seasons average at 2,674, the club will take 89,115 LESS in ticket revenue than 2011................................300k less than 2006
No effort was made to attract fans to the CC game...instead, they locked up most of the ground and accepted that they were going to get a poor gate.......that is, in my honest opinion, borderline negligence and totally unacceptable. Whitehaven got more fans to their CC game.....
If the club get an away draw in the CC on Monday, June 9th will be the next "home" game.......if the team have lost the 4 games up to then, does anyone expect a bumper gate for Widnes?
No fans = no interest from sponsors or investors = a downward spiral = less fans = etc etc etc...
There is a Direct link between the number of fans at games and the ability of the club to survive once David Hughes walks away.....and it seems to the casual observer that the club don't seem to understand or care about this....they paid rent for the Stoop on Sunday.........why not try and at least break even?
