| Well, I live in Kenilworth. I fond it nicer than either Leeds or Warrington, but only because it's smaller, has its own castle and slightly fewer chavs (although even here they loiter around the high street. When I'm king.....
Comparing Warrington to Leeds is a bit apples and pears anyway, given the disparity of size and function. Mostly, I expect, it comes down to which (if either) you call home. For me, I've never really been to Warrington other than to Wilderspool and HJ, so I don't know much about it. My loss no doubt, but you can't be everywhere at once. Leeds on the other hand was home for the first 27 years of my life (barring a few years at uni in Liverpool). So I prefer it on principle tro pretty much any other large town or city. So there.
Oh, and I thought Mr Silverwood made a decent fist of reffing a very fast, high-action game on Friday. The main difference between the sides was probably in the error count, but it wasn't much difference. Could have gone either way really.
Finally, unofficial fan sites are written by fans, so they ought to be biased. THe person further up the post who sought to use this fact as evidence that standards of "fair-mindedness and reasonable behaviour" are slipping needs to find a little perspective, in my view.
As you were.

Lived in Leeds for 42 years and NEVER heard a loiner say "tha" or "thee" for that matter. Are you getting the Leeds accent mixed up with someone from Castleford or Barnsley? The Leeds accent is pretty a pretty tame Yorkshire accent as it goes and contains as much old English as the Warrington accent. But thanks for the sterotype.

point of fact- you do not have to be born in leeds to be a leeds fan!

A resounding YES.A few years ago I could recognise all the different Leeds accents, and there were quite a few,East Leeds I.E York road area were traditionally a mix of Irish and Italian ,going back to the mid to late 19th century, and York roader's spoke faster and didn't always say T instead of the like other parts do.South leeds Hunslet and other areas did speak a bit broader ,but never spoke thee and tha,but travel out a bit to Rothwell ,Kippax etc you will hear thee and tha.West Leeds Armley ,Bramley ,Stanningley,It always A slower way of speaking JJB,JP,even Bailey.I come from Bramley and the older Bramley folk did speak broad, but not thee and tha .Then there is North Leeds Moortown ,Chapel Allerton,Alwoodley etc ,well that area was alway's dominated by the Jewish accent. In last 20 years there have been another influx of people from the South and of course MERSEYSIDE,and that is also adding to the accent too.I speak with a downtown Leeds accent something like Maurice Bamford, and last time I was home I was in a shop and a girl from London said you come from rarnd ere lav?I said "Leeds born n bred"she said "reelly never wuold o guessed, and of course there are thousands of students in the city and some stay. Its a cosmopolitan city and the ccent has never been broad yorkshire and its changing all the time

I knew you weren't knocking Warrington I was just thinking ahead in wonderment how an accent crossed between old Bramley (not to be confused with newer Bramley) and South Philly would sound...the love child of Maurice Bamford and Rocky Bilboa's twin sister. Perhaps if they crossed it with a York Roaders where they speak quickly that would be a belter, possibly Wiganeese then again....
