| I'm half agreeing with LWF on this one. I'm not sure Penny is ready for superleague yet. A lot of people bang on about him learning but other youngsters (Blythe, Harrison, Riley) seem to fit right in without this 'learning' process. I don't think we can afford to have someone in our team who is still learning.
I panic when they kick to Penny as he seems to be quite unsure catching the ball.
Penny's occasional moments of genius do seem to be easily out weighed by his lapses in concentration. I'm not going to blame his positioning just yet as King going missing makes it impossible to blame him for most tries down our left.
King needs to play on the wing outside Bridge as others have said. to sure up the left hand side.

| Two things that did annoy me was his attempt at converting that scoring chance from the cross-field kick; why the hell did he dive at it feet first? Tends to suggest a lack of bravery.
And the tackle attempt at Gardner when he should him smashed him into touch was also rather pitiful.

Penny's positives are: He can run.
King's positives are: He isn't to bad at going forward (like a prop would), He can catch a ball (from the air), He is stronger.'"
that's it, i've decided that you're an official wind up merchant.
From your posts this weeks, there's no other explanation to it.

As for the tackle on Gardner, I think Credit goes to Gardner tbh, as he got so low, it became very difficult to get a big hit in. Gardner should have scored, and he did. It would have been a wonder play to keep him out there.
I've just watched the tries again, and Penny was at fault for 1 of them for me, the 2nd try. He came in as Flannery (I think) was offloading, and then realised he should have stayed out. This is the one where Gardner went low and scored.
As for the one where he got dragged off, he pulled off a very good tackle on Gardner, there was just no other Wire players alert enough to take Gidley.

| He's not a rugby league player.
He doesn't have finesse, he doesn't have the skill or rugby league ability.
He has an abundance of pace, that doesn't make him a rugby league player, far from it.
He might improve with correct coaching, but in my opinion, he needs a lot of direct coaching from a decent former/existing player, to bring his game on.

| i agree give the lad a chance BUT i would make the following points
he has the pace to skin the best he did it last year so create an opening for him
i worry he does not seem to like the physical side of the game most players in rugby would come in hard on a winger going over for a try he does not seem to have that in him is he a naturally aggressive lad?

| Penny has the potential, but hasn't developed yet.
I'm not 100% sure whether he'll need to learn those skills on or off the Super League field.....
Comparing him with Riley;
Penny - Has the potential, but isn't ready yet
Riley - Has less potential, but is ready now
I believe Penny is the future, Riley is the now

| I just don't think Penny and King work well together, you can't blame just one player for our weakness on that side.

| Quote A.C.WIRE="A.C.WIRE"We dont play to Penny strengths anymore,we dont get him
in the positions we don't kick over the top to drive the

Matt King arrived he seems to have struggled big time.
If he continues to be slagged off and taken off his
confidence will just dive again i think if he was
playing outside Gleeson or in the Saints or Leeds
team you would see him score lots of tries and his
defence would hardly get a mention.
Would rather see Matt King disappear than one
of our own trained but thats another thread.'"

How many rugby league players would have attempted to 'trap it'. It wasn't the action of a rugby league player whose instinct would always be to get their hands to it.
