| Quote Paul Youane="Paul Youane"Serious question to Saints fans: do you really believe Saints have any chance whatsoever of signing Currie?
You'd have more chance of getting that Tomkins kid from Wigan.'"
I don't think we will, but stranger things have happened. There are so many variables in this day and age that could cause a player to move clubs.
I read yesterday on an Aussie forum for example that you and Wigan are in talks with Penrith about securing a release for Michael Jennings. That kind of transfer would need some adjustment to accomodate no doubt. You've also got an embarassment of riches in terms of squad depth, so you will fall foul of that soon enough. Every upwardly mobile team goes through it, you become established and suddenly the players and their agents demand more than they had previously and it becomes difficult to sustain. Wire are rumoured to have signed Bateman, again, with serious interest from other clubs he's not going to be cheap.
Put it this way, I don't think Warrington are going to be able to maintain the quality of player you have in the number you have. I'm not saying we'll sign Currie, it's very unlikely, but I wouldn't be surprised if you miss out a player or two because other clubs have more cap room and holes in their squad that the Wire don't have.

You really shouldn't believe everything you read in the papers. Out of all Warrington's current players I would imagine that Ben Currie would be the last allowed to leave.
As for the Warrington second row Saints are likely to sign then I'd put money on Jack Cooper being the player "falling" into this category.

| I can see Currie being loaned out to Saints for a 1-2 month period. The sort of thing to build a young lad up, showing him the less glamorous side of RL, playing alongside less talented players in a less salubrious environment. Character-building.

| I would wager that the queen will run naked across the mall before saints sign currie (or laihwaite) from wire. Anyone who believes otherwise is either mentally Ill or delusional

Laithewaite can't get in your team now and your team is being added to with Bateman. He could be your 8th choice back rower behind Waterhouse, Westwood, Harrison, Grix, Currie, Bateman and Blythe next season? What if another club offered him a starting 17 place and money in line with that? Does he turn it down and stay on next to minimum wage because Warrington are such an awesome club? I doubt it.

You are working overtime on here at the moment Saddened.
Laithwaite has not played any SL yet and that will be the real test of his abilities. Perhaps he will be loaned out or perhaps he may get 7-8 matches in the 1st team to show his abilities. I hope he is eased into SL gradually, I am not a fan of how Bradford have used Bateman. Anyway, the point I was going to make was that Waterhouse and Harrison could be the props for next year. TS seems to be developing Grix in other directions rather than just as a back row forward. Blythe has been tried in the forwards but has not made it, he will stay as a centre. That leaves plenty of head space for Currie and Laithwaite, even if we do get Bateman ( IMHO).

| So, is James going to HKR on loan, or not? He is very happy and reluctant to leave Leigh, where he is playing 80 minutes at Championship level, has fitted in very well with the team, and is popular with the supporters - who recognise his honest endeavour and talent.
Presumably he was sent to Leigh to gain experience of 'senior' rugby, as he isn't (presumably) deemed ready for SL yet?
One thing's for sure, he's been another class D/C signing from Wolves, following in the footsteps of Blythe, Mitchell, McCarthy, Evans and (very briefly) Shaw.
