| Quote MikeyWire="MikeyWire"Wigan fan in that Wire player isn't good enough shocker....!
I remember the Pie fans going into meltdown last season when Myler was given an England cap...And Odemwingie has posted on the VT that Deacon should have gone to the 4 nations this year...
I do expect fans to be slightly biased towards their own club but come on.....
'"
Even though my immediate suggestion was Paul Wood, which kinda negates the rest of your post.
And tbh, I would consider Deacon. England CLEARLY lack direction with Sinfield/Eastmond/McGuire etc etc. Sam isn't the type of player to lead a side around the park, neither is Brown, neither has a kicking game.
I don't by any stretch of the imagination believe Deacon is international class, but he has a kicking game and can move a side around.
Lack of alternatives I think is the main problem.

| Carvell's form has been average for most of the season. Any wire fan will tell you that he really shouldn't be in the england squad. But then this is the coach who picked worrincey week after week.

I'd have liked Liam Watts or LMS to have gone as well. *Hopefully* neither would be required to play a major role if at all and so they may as well go for the experience.
I really don't think we needed to send a replacement prop at all, i'd have liked a HB to have gone.

Kevin Brown looked out of his depth on Saturday. LMS would of been a good choice with his size and power.

I think he looked disctincly average first half, and 2nd half he was poor like everyone else. Not sure its completely fair to judge anyone on that second half performance (inc Joel Tomkins ) as we just didn't get good ball from the HB after Sam went off.

| It shows how important Tomkins is 18-0 up when he goes off. Talking about kicking games, it's a shame that Lee Briers opted for Wales.

I'd have taken Briers. Or Brough tbh, we lack their style of play.

I think Brown deserves to be there but him and Tomkins will never work. Both out and out 6's.

Do we really need another prop though? IMO McNamara should have just admitted he made a mistake and used Morleys injury as an opportunity to bring a decent half in to make up for it instead of bringing someone in who's been injured most of the season and not in form AFAIK? Desperate times call for desperate measures and a half who can control a game and just settle things down i.e. Burrow, Matty Smith or yes even Deacon could have saved us a little bit of embarassment, instead we are stuck with Kevin Brown who is prone to massive brain farts, which should be great against the Aussies

| If only McNamara had picked the right team.
I thought we had a real chance of beating the Aussies this time with all the great players we have but McNamara just isn't picking them, its like Tony Smith and Brian Noble and David Waite
