If i'm not mistaken it's Malc's last year of his current contract, maybe his agent is drumming up some interest and using the media to help secure a contract extension? Personally I'd be surprised if Alker wanted to leave by choice, especially with the new coaching role and work about to start at Barton next month.

Not quite a 'no story'. Widnes genuinely declared an interest in a Salford player and the player said thanks but no thanks. The fact that somebody else wanted him and he said no to stay loyal to Salford suggests it was worth of letting the fans know. You'd all be complaining if nothing was said and it was heard on the grapevine.
