The Manchester Evening News regularly use online social websites to source comments. There have been high profile local murders and deaths, one who I knew personally, and 'journalists' obtained material such as photographs and individual comments from their facebook pages. This is distasteful in my opinion.
In this instance however its somewhat more trivial. Rugby fans using random usernames commenting on their teams. At least the paper is giving us plenty of coverage. Try following Swinton, they rarely get a mention and even got ignored by the Salford Advertiser a couple of weeks ago. |

I don't know why my original response came out blank, but basically I was meant to say that it's a tactic used by all newspapers, not just the MEN. It's not something to use to attack them and them alone - there's plenty of other reasons to do that!
As for way this thread has gone since, Jesus. Some people are very tetchy about criticism or responses they don't like (and I don't meant Louise's post, either...) |
