PS A recent bid for 12 m for the stadium has been recently turned down from Sport England.



RL is not santioned as a development sport in the UK,.

The lack of funding from Sport England is a blow but on the whole your district has had a lot of funding from them for other sports.

Our (Wakefield's) bid to sporting England has been looked on very favourably but that is due to the lack of sporting previsions within our district. mainly due to our v.poor council. although you could say it's not what you know but who you know, as the chairman of the sub committee for the construction of our new ground has also been the chairman of sport England.

FWIW it's not just you thats having trouble with funding Castleford still havn't got funding 12 months after having planning permission.

Sporting provision in Salford there is hardly any, the area has not had Sport England money, only £5000 for an event for schools to support the London Olympics drain on all sports money in the country. NWDA offered Liverpool £12m for help with their new ground after Salford were told you can not have money to develop private sports grounds.

The council have thrown £20m at the BBC as a bribe, which might have been better served going elsewhere. A few years back Rugby Yawnian got £39m from Sport England in the same year Rugby League got £89k, so I didn't expect to get much from them, I know that SE fund Rugby Yawnian development posts in Manchester.

The stadium will be built for 2012/13 and Salford will still be in Super League. Work will begin in the next year. Things can start moving forward now peel holdings have come out in the open.

You are all talking about a stadium that doesnt exist, that has supposed to have been played in for a number of years now......I dont care about this non existant stadium.





WHAT ABOUT THE CLUB?





Would you want the club to play games somewhere else and survive, or get kicked out of Super League?

It depends where we are come the end of next season. If the team is performing terribly and/or no progress has been made, then we should perhaps drop out of SL. Even though it would probably be disastrous for the club.



If they deserve to stay in SL by that time then ground sharing whilst the stadium gets built wouldn't be a problem for me.



There's a lot of what ifs there though...
