i dont know what the big deal is!!! i was talking to keiron the day this news broke. hes amazed that its got such a reaction. he has all the licences he needs to do this, so whats the problem?? all the top tv chefs kill animals on their programs!! so what???

Killing dear is Always done as stock control (unless you are a poacher) Big estates who allow stalking are almost always doing it to cull either the old stock or any spare males etc....

Don,t know what all the hype is about, all this criticism is probably from people who don,t know anything about wildlife and natures balance.

Like the previous poster has mentioned the deer is regularly culled each year to control herd numbers across the land acres. If they increase in vast numbers they actually destroy lots of other wildlife in the area, the annual cull addresses the balance.

One thing I do know, is that Kieron will be managed into what he can and cant kill, he will be only able to kill old deer stock and then butchered for other animal or human consumption.

Maybe we all need to get rid of our computers, mobile phones, hypermarkets, political correctness etc to get back into the real natural world.

Gets on my wick that we expect sportsmen to be role models in their life outside of sport. The guys a role model on the field, I couldnt care what he does in his private life, he's not Morrissey - it's a moral agrument that isn't relavant to a guy that plays Rugby for a career. The only standards I expect from him off the field are to fulfill his Saints roles in the community, and has he not been a sheer proffessional in his duties for his whole career? I think so.

Bloodsports arn't my thing, but it's not illegal so who cares? If we were to ban everything that some people find offensive we would be in a 1984 style society before long

But according to a poster above they are bred to be hunted, so why breed them if the numbers are that high they need to be hunted for sport? Surely nature's balance doesn't need the help of a man with a gun?









Does the 'real natural world' include the man made firearm he uses? Surely in the 'real natural world' he be using his bare hands? Then we'd be talking about 'nature's balance'.

If he had to use his bare hands, then nature would at least have its chance to defend itself / escape.



If he wants to shoot moving targets, what wrong with a firing range? Or Virtua Cop?

I think the last 2 posters have just destroyed the human race in there "natural world- bare hands" statements. Man having the "UpperHand" on other species have aways been hunters, be it with rock, clubs, spears, arrows or bullets. Humans that normally kill with there bare hands are normally other humans.

I shoot wildlife of the photography kind in some remote parts of Scotland where I see at first hand where hunting is the norm and natural part of the landscape.

I,m not into this urbanised hypocritical rubbish stuff............If anyone HERE eats mass produced, hormone induced, meat or fish that have lived under un natural environmemts, then killed by electricity or by a bolt through the brain, don't bother answering this post.

Hunting to survive, as has been the case through the majority of history, is a completely different matter to hunting for sport.







That's the same kind of bull argument thrown up by the supporters of fox hunting, and that wasn't a natural part of the landscape either. There's a reported problem with badgers spreading bovine tb, a problem a cull may help solve, why doesn't he hunt badgers instead?



I also note you avoid commenting on the suggestion that these animals are bred to be hunted...

We're talking about an amateur taking pot-shots at real creatures. The professionals, those who rear or farm animals for the provision of food to the masses, make very few mistakes in the way they stun or kill animals so that their suffering is minimal. Sure, there's the odd mistake, but Elmer Fudd here is far more likely to increase the suffering of an animal many times before he lands a killer blow or shot.



That is needless, and as I said, what's the matter with a firing range?
