| Its just as well we don't pick the team then isn't it. Once again Kirke gets a bashing.
If we had a fully fit squad....blah blah blah.
Kirke only plays because he's the only one fit
All complete rubbish. Kirke may not make hits like Kylie or meters like Peacock, but he's damn near always available, unlike some of the softcocks who get repeatedly injured. Maybe its because he does naff all in a game? I think if three successive coaches have picked him consistently, I would say he is doing enough in games to satisfy them. He does a good job IMO. Never close to being a full international, but comes on, has decent defence, and takes on a few drives. I don't see the problem. probably better value than plenty in the squad.
Exactly the same as Senior. he may not be the best in the squad, but he's the only one this season who hasn't got injured, and has been pretty much injury free over his Leeds career.

OK so we should have a team full of over the hill and distinctly average players who are durable due to their lack of involvement in the game? - that sounds like a plan.

Where do I say that?
I think that Kirke is a good member of the squad who does a job, and is durable. We'll never build a team around him, but he's a good honest pro, who tightens up the defence when he comes on, and allows some of our better players (and less durable players) a break so they can come back on fresh. You can't have a pack full of Peacocks. Salary cap won't allow it, so you have to make compromises.
Actually, I think that to be over the hill, you need to have climbed up one in the first place.

Good work.Though I don't understand why this lad is constantly bagged by supposed knowledgeable people on this board. He does what he says on the tin. Nothing brilliant, but does a job. There are plenty of people who should be taking flak before Kirke.

Is durable really the prime quality any player should bring at elite level?
He is the squad because he is cheap and despite the outpourings from Sinfield if he and some of cronies didn't take up so much cap space you would be able to accomodate a higher quality player.

I've said similar in the past too.
Assuming he's on one of the lower salaries (which you'd hope he was or we're doomed!), we need players like him. If they're were all JP's and demanding salaries to match, we'd be well over the cap!
As for "Kirke-bashing" though, to be honest, I think it's become very tongue-in-cheek. Certainly in my case. I'm sure the majority of us appreciate his role in the squad, it's just a bit of pantomime booooing.

| Atleast Kirke knows what he is, and knows his limitations. He rarely tries a stupid offload simply takes the ball forward.
Granted not very often and not for long meters and not for quick play the balls...... on second thoughts maybe he's useless and we should get rid after all, scrap the first bit.

Outside of yours perhaps?
Winning the Challenge Cup has also apparently been outside Leeds' remit for all but one season in the last 32.

Do you really think that Leeds operate their Salary cap poorly? If so, you've lost it

| Quote tvoc="tvoc"As he was injured last week (and so has no current form) I guess I'll have to concede that non-point.
I'd pick a fit Leuluai to play prop over a fit Kirke to play that position every day of the week.
As I appear to have prefaced the comment with 'a fully fit pack' I think I've covered Lauitiiti's availability for selection. I had nine forwards available (including Lauitiiti) and that left the other five fighting it out for the final position on the bench.'"
You would have to go back a quite a few years before you could consider Ali being "fully fit". To expect it now has to be filed in the "pigs might fly" drawer.
