Ok it was London Broncos we played that day, but you can only play with what you’ve got in front of you. But that day saw Leeds create the following records -
Most tries in a CC Final: 4 by Leroy Rivett (Leeds Rhinos v London Broncos in 1999)
Highest winning score in a CC Final: Leeds Rhinos 52 v London Broncos 16 in 1999
Widest margin in a CC Final: Leeds Rhinos 52 v London Broncos 16 in 1999
And equal other records such as -
Most tries by one team a CC Final: 9, by Huddersfield v St. Helens in 1915, and Leeds Rhinos v London Broncos in 1999
Most points a CC Final: 20, (2 tries, 7 goals) by Neil Fox (Wakefield Trinity v Hull in 1960), and (1 try, 8 goals) by Iestyn Harris (Leeds Rhinos v London Broncos in 1999)
Personally I’ve enjoyed watching Leeds most during a cup run because that’s when we’ve tended to be at our best such as that unexpected CC semi final win over St Helens in 2003 and the CC semi final win over the almighty Wigan this year.
In 1999 we beat Wigan, St Helens, Widnes and Bradford on their way to the Final where we faced Broncos. We beat Broncos in a style that hasn’t been seen since in the challenge cup or before in a challenge cup. Do you agree?
