Its my opinion it was the worst as

A ) Its very hard to market a nickname when nobody has a clue what it is or means!

B ) It was forced on people rather than a name the fans went along with

C ) It was criticized by many in the game from Shaun Edwards down to fans



What nicknames were worse?

Broncos? Vikings? Giants? All had logos that were easy to market and promote The only name that was just as bad really marketing wise was Salford City Reds. And Salford still struggle to be known in their area despite having kept this name although having Man Utd next door is not easy.

As PJ is forever telling us we are " The Mighty Blue & Whites" which I like, although Mr Steve says we are "HAL EEE FAX".



I reckon we are probably just "Fax" really.

Anyone notice on Friday night the Halifax cheerleaders have gone back to the days of Thrum Hall and are once again called the "Blue Belles"

As was the case 13 years ago Bombers is hardly the most appropriate name in the modern world.

Probably even less appropiate now. Though that could be a whole new debate.



As for Real Madrid having a strong nickname as mentioned in a previous post... they're known as Los Merengues or Los Blancos. Not too hard to translate those. Although the full name of the club is Real Madrid Club de Fútbol which is shortened to simply Real Madrid.



Barcelona is simply shortened to Barça.



I don't see the name for a silly nick name. The club is been run very well at the moment and a nickname has been considered but decided against. Fax or the Blue & Whites is fine for me.

I like the one we've been given by the press personally.

Also I could just imagin the away supporters chanting "Bummers" as we shouted "Come on you Bombers". What sort of trouble would that create??

It would also have been worse in the year we lost all but 1 of our games. Would we even have had a team to cheer on today I wonder?

Time the stupid name was consigned to history.

Lets get on with being Halifax or Fax as we supporters know our team.

We don`t need any fancy names.

Mind you Halifax Bankers could be quite topical!

Halifax Bank Robbers would give a harder image and would be even more topical
