Should there now not be also an internal investigation at red hall about how this scenario has happened twice in three years?



We at Fax now have to take the punishment on the chin but surely the RFL are somewhat accountable having this happen twice in three years and the only reason they found out this year was because of a fans messageboard which strikes me just as bad as the way Fax have handled the situation?



There must be a way of spotting that a club has played an ineligable player or a system whereas when a newly signed player is registered that it is red flagged that they have played in previous rounds with the RFL and that information is then passed to the club.

sorry owd cock, it's happened cos some dozy @rse at fax got it wrong!!! It's simple - no player can player for 2 clubs in one season! Obey the rules!! ? Fax didn't and are paying the price - move on!! Why is it necessary to waste time and money on an investigation when this is a fax club foul up??

Because it shouldnt have taken the RFL until less than 3hrs before kick off to actually take action about this. They had the team sheet for 3 weeks but still didnt notice!!!

Am not denying that for one second this is entirely a Halifax debacle but surely the RFL should/could have noticed our mess up earlier? It has taken three weeks and a fans message board for this to materialise which I don't think is all that good for a governing body of a major sport.

Indeed. It's an opportunity to conduct a complete overhaul throughout the club. Look at the example of Leigh. Down and out last year - one of the worst teams in the league and relegated. Saved by someone else's misfortune they have now pulled themselves up by the boot straps and are one of the best teams in the division.

think you will find there is a rule that states a player can play in the cup for two different clubs.

If he has written dispensation to do so and that is usually only in exceptional circumstances - which this isn't! Tho I'll take the point swifty, however slender it is!

Someone could play for one of the Armed Forces in one round and play for professional club in later round (as happened at Oldham couple of years ago) or in theory we could have signed someone from Siddal after they beat Doncaster and then played him against Swinton (unlikely seen as half of them have already been here before and released!).



Basically a non-RFL member club player can also play for a RFL member club in same season but you can't play for 2 member clubs in same season as has happened with us.



I guess the French side mentioned in last post are not members of RFL so could legitimately play for Gateshead too?
