After a strong showing against the Wolves, the return of Locke to the starting line-up, and the hope that Saints would have one eye on next weekend’s World Club Challenge, there was a hope that The Devils could register their first win over the Saints in five years.
Kieron Cunninghams' team selection showed that he's playing this season for keeps and although there were a few changes to the starting thirteen it was still a strong side that made the short trip down the East Lancs Road.

After one of the most tightly contested super leagues in years and with the dawn of a new era upon the sport, the Saints pulled off an unlikely victory at the theatre of dreams on Saturday.
Following an unbelievable loss of composure by Ben Flowers in the 3rd minute, both teams having chances with only a penalty apiece to separate until Wigan, down to 12 men soldiered to a try by young Joe Burgess just before half time, Matty Smith missing that conversion and another penalty.

St Helens fought off a late comeback to beat arch rivals Wigan Warriors 22-16 in a thrilling game at Langtree Park.
Wigan, without the mercurial Sam Tomkins, missed the opportunity to take the top spot in the Super League table as Saints battled back to move up to 23 points in seventh place.
A superb late try from Joe Greenwood secured the win for the home side after the lead changed hands on a number of occasions throughout the 80 minutes.

Huddersfield Giants withstood a late fightback from St Helens at the John Smith Stadium to hold on to a 25-16 win.
The home side raced into an 18-0 lead through Aaron Murphy, Joe Wardle and Dale Ferguson, and had a number of tries disallowed as they looked to put the game to bed at half time.

With the crowd still trying to catch their collective breath after a sensational and controversial Hull derby, the Saints and the Wolves took to the field for the last game of what had been a stunning sunny Saturday in Manchester.
Saints were riding high after a great victory over the Rhinos last Monday while Warrington, still smarting from a loss to Hull FC, were buoyed by the return to action of Adrian Morley after a long injury lay-off.
The stage was set for a classic.

After last weekends stunning Tetley’s Challenge Cup victory over the Bradford Bulls the Broncos were brought crashing back to earth by a rampant Wigan Warriors as round fifteen of Superleague, the eve of the Magic Weekend, once again sprung a few surprises.
Castleford, under the new leadership of Daryl Powell, had a tough looking trip to the South of France; Warrington played host to a resurgent Hull FC at the Halliwell-Jones; and the Saints managed to halt a six game losing streak with a fight back win at the home of the Champions.

Saints recovered from an early 16-0 deficit to end their five match losing streak with a victory in the first Monday night fixture of the season.
Nathan Brown’s side forced two second-half tries with intense kick pressure and confirmed what could be a season changing win six minutes from time through youngster, Luke Thompson.

The half-way round of Superleague XVIII proved as unpredictable as the British weather as Saints, Catalans and Hull KR found to their cost.
While the fight for top spot continues with gusto, the tussle to avoid the 2013 wooden spoon is also hotting up.
It was points a plenty as we saw sixty-six tries across our seven Superleague matches over a very busy weekend.

What had started the weekend looking like a mundane round of Superleague matches, again turned out to be anything but, as Superleague XVIII continued to be the season that just keeps on giving.
There were two big shocks over the weekend, and plenty of other raised eyebrows.
The big surprises were; a win for Tony Rea and his Broncos side against an under strength Saints side; and the totally out-of-character sending off of Huddersfield Giants half-back Luke Robinson.

St Helens boss, Nathan Brown has hit out at a 'cannon ball tackle' which has ended the season of second rower, Mark Flanagan.
Flanagan was subject to the tackle early on in Saints' Challenge Cup defeat at Hull KR and will require a knee reconstruction operation.

Ian Henderson scored four seconds from time as Catalan resisted a late St Helens comeback to record back to back victories at Langtree Park.
Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook came close to scoring a minute from time but in a bitter twist of fate, it was Ian Henderson who had the last say.

Hull KR put their record thrashing at the hands of Wigan behind them with a 22-14 win over St Helens at MS3 Craven Park.
The Robins took a 10-0 lead with tries from David and Josh Hodgson, but a brace from Mark Percival before half time levelled the scores.
Cory Paterson put Rovers ahead in the second half before Adam Swift scored a length of the field try to bring themselves within two points.
But Alex Brown scored in the corner with 10 minutes to go and Craig Hall’s penalty secured the result for the Robins.

St Helens bounced back from last week’s defeat against Leeds with a convincing 22-10 lead against Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Warrington endured their first back to back losses in nearly two years as they couldn’t overcome the first half advantage Saints earned a 14-0 lead through tries from Jordan Turner, Lance Hohaia and Francis Meli.
