It's times like this, a new hero steps to the fore. They can be an established member of the side, or a young starlet who announce their maturing in the game with an almost divine like moment resulting in sheer ecstasy.
Given some of the inane, and to be frank, embarrassing rantings over the past couple of weeks, some may suggest a new hero cannot come soon enough.
The Big Red Machine keeps rumbling on, the one man pack essentially carrying Saints depleted ranks. It is safe to say Jammer has endeared himself to Saints fans in the past couple of seasons, and we will be mentioning him in the same breath as players like David Farleigh and Kevin Ward, true greats who have propped for Saints.
Jammer cannot continue to roll on alone, and the impending return of Maurie Fa'asavalu will be something for him to look forward to.
But on the return to a top strength pack, Saints have a bigger issue to consider. The infantile partnership at half back. The oft sublime oft quiet Leon Pryce, and the raw talent of Kyle Eastmond. One of these needs to stand up, and placing such pressure on the shoulders of Eastmond is not going to help.
We have seen Pryce orchestrate Saints before, even this season with two superb performances at Leeds and Wakefield. He can do it.
Let's not beat about the bush, he needs the platform, and we can;t rely on Big Red to do that himself, other players need to stand up in the pack. But when they do, Leon needs be the grabbing the game by the scrotum, and making sure he twists good and hard.
Only when Leon takes control can Eastmond settle. Only then can he let himself get to grips with Super League properly and take the reigns off Leon.
The raw materials are there with Kyle, it will just take some craft to mould him into the finished article.
Sean Long had Tommy God. Time for Leon to take the lead.
